Dominique Anderson picked up a fumble and returned it 36 yards for another score as VUU downed Bowie State University 37-13 in Historic Hovey Field on Saturday, October 20, in Richmond, Va.
Grant's pick came as VUU scored two touchdowns in less than a minute in the second quarter.
Virginia Union took a 7-0 lead when quarterback
Kenneth Graham took it in from one yard out in the first quarter. VUU made it 14-0 when
Richard Rodwell ran it in from two yards out with 47 seconds left in the first quarter.
Although Bowie State would score 13 straight points, the Panthers' defense stiffened the rest of the game.

Terrence Malone rushed it in from three yards out to put the Panthers up 21-13, then Grant's score made it 27-13 with 4:17 left in the third quarter.
Virginia Union's
Stephen Velasquez added a 20-yard field goal right before halftime to make it 30-13, and then Anderson scored the final touchdown in the third quarter with his fumble recovery.
The win evens VUU's record at 4-4 overall and 2-3 in CIAA play. Bowie State drops to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the CIAA.
Virginia Union now travels to Elizabeth City, N.C., to face Elizabeth City State University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, in the Panthers' final road game of the 2012 season.
