James Washington

James Washington has been the head coach of the Virginia Union University's women's bowling team since 2008.

During his tenure, he has taken the VUU bowling team to the 2013 CIAA Bowling Championships, the first time a Lady Panther bowling team has made the CIAA Bowling Championships in the current championship format.

Before coming to VUU, Washington was the volunteer bowling coach at Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Va., from 2005-08.  Under Washington's guidance, the Lady Tigers won the CIAA Eastern Division Championship in 2008.

Prior to Saint Paul's, Washington was the bowling coach at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., in 1984-85.  Washington guided the Lady Hokies to a place in the NCAA Tournament.

Washington has been the center manager of Bowl America, Inc., Southwest in Richmond since 1988.  This is the official bowling home of the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union University.

A graduate of Virginia Tech, Washington is the 4th Vice President of Greater Richmond Youth Bowling Association (organization has merged to GRUSBC).

He is also the Director of GRUSBC and serves on an extended list of committee’s.  Washington is the 4th Vice President of the Virginia State Youth Bowling Association (organization has merged to VA State USBC).

Washington is also the Director of Virginia State USBC, Manager of BASW Youth Program at Bowl America Southwest, Virginia State Junior Gold Tournament Director and Richmond Youth Travel League Director.

In 2006 Washington was inducted into Virginia State Youth Bowling Assoc. Hall of Fame and was inducted into Greater Richmond Youth Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2009.

Washington has bowled six perfect 300 games and one 800 series.
