Solomon Brown enters his fourth season with the Panthers, having built one of the CIAA’s most dominant defensive line units. Since joining Virginia Union in 2022, Brown has helped lead the team to back-to-back CIAA Championships and a 2024 NCAA quarterfinal appearance.

Under his leadership, the Panthers’ rushing defense improved from 169.5 yards/game in 2021 to 76.2 in 2022, and an elite 51.7 in 2023, ranking #1 nationally. His unit allowed just 3 rushing touchdowns in 2023 and consistently pressured opposing offenses.

Brown has coached multiple All-Conference players, including:

Isaac Anderson – Cliff Harris Award nominee, 2x First Team All-CIAA, 15.1 TFL
Kamari Federick – CIAA Defensive All-Rookie Team
Armonii Burden – 9.5 TFL, 8 sacks (2022)

In 2023, Brown was promoted to Defensive Run Game Coordinator, further solidifying his role in shaping the Panthers’ defensive identity. He also represented VUU at the HBCU Legacy Bowl, coaching alongside other top HBCU staff.

Prior to VUU, Brown served as Defensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at East Central University (2019–2021), and held coaching roles at Midwestern State, Lackawanna College, and James Madison University.

Brown recruits high school prospects from Northern Virginia and is a proud father to a daughter studying Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University.
