Ollie Taylor joins the Virginia Union University football staff after spending the 2025 season as the offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach at Hampton University, where he also previously coached during the 2021-22 football seasons.
Prior to returning to Hampton University, he served on the staff at his alma mater, Delaware State. He served two terms on the coaching staff for the Hornets (2018, 2022-25) where he was the pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
A native of Wilmington, Del., Taylor is a 2009 graduate of Delaware State where he played both quarterback and wide receiver for the Hornets and was a member of the Hornets 2007 MEAC champion and NCAA playoff team. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with minors in Finance & Banking, Marketing, and Economics.
He began his coaching career at Widener in 2012. In 2013, he coached at Seton Hill (Pa.) where the Griffins had the 13th-ranked passing offense in the nation under Taylor’s guidance. Following his season at Seton Hill, he spent a season at the prep level as offensive coordinator at McKean High School (Del.).
Taylor served two stints as wide receivers coach at NCAA Division III Widener (Pa.). In 2015, the program posted the conference’s top passing offense and ranked 18th nationally in 2015. During his first stop at Widener in 2012, he was the head junior varsity coach, and coached the varsity running backs, and an assistant for strength & conditioning. That season, he helped lead the program to a Division III Elite Eight (national quarterfinal) run, ranking fifth in the country in scoring offense, third in fewest sacks allowed, and 20th in total offense.
He spent two seasons at Saginaw Valley (2016-17) as wide receivers coach and co-special teams coordinator at Division II Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.). He worked at Division II Concordia (Minn.) from 2019-21. While at Concordia, his offense averaged over 305 yards per game to help lead the team to a 6-5 log in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in 2019.
