Charlotte, N.C. — The Virginia Union University women's basketball team pulled out a thrilling
43-42 victory over Johnson C. Smith University Wednesday night in CIAA action at Brayboy Gymnasium.
With the game tied and just
three seconds remaining, senior
Serenity Johnson drove the lane and scored a clutch layup to give VUU the lead. On the ensuing inbounds play, Johnson anticipated the pass, came up with the steal, and with
one second left, knocked down a jumper to seal the dramatic win for the Lady Panthers.
"It was a hard-fought win," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Alico Dunk. "We didn't play our best basketball. They showed heart and toughness."
