The Virginia Union University softball team split its double-header with Bluefield State University as the team celebrated Senior Day at the VUU Softball Field on Saturday, April 19, in Richmond, Va.
The Lady Panthers downed Bluefield State 11-6 in the opener as
Aysha Chaney slammed three doubles while driving in two runs.
Bluefield State, however, bounced back to beat the Lady Panthers 14-9 in the nightcap despite
Danasia Sturdivant driving in three runs.
"First off, I want to start with thanking our four seniors for everything they've done for our program." said VUU Head Softball Coach
Dominique Mulero. "They will be missed very much! I think we came out and played good quality softball in the first game!  We got a big pitching performance by
Brandy Roberts and had good quality hits by
Jailyn Myrick and
Aniya Jones! In the second game we hurt ourselves by committing too many errors. We have two games left and we're going to continue to fight for our spot in the tournament!"
Virginia Union wraps up the 2025 regular season when it travels to Petersburg, Va., to face Virginia State University in a double-header on Saturday, April 26.
