Virginia Union University's
Jailyn Myrick slugged two doubles and scored twice, but Bowie State University swept the Lady Panthers 9-1 and 11-8 in a softball double-header on Saturday, March 29, in Bowie, Md.
VUU's
Danae Goree and
Jenna Nicolski drove in a pair of runs apiece in the second game.
"I didn't see much of the first I was sick on the bus but in the second game we took the early lead with good solid hits," said VUU Head Softball Coach
Dominique Mulero, "But we just fell flat after the third inning. I'm proud that we fought in the seventh inning. but we needed that the entire game. regardless if we were up! With a team like Bowie State there can be no let up. We took our foot off the gas and allowed them to come back in the game. We have two tough games tomorrow so we're looking to continue our momentum from the seventh inning and come home with some wins!"
Virginia Union will now travel to Lincoln University, Pa., to face the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania in a double-header on Sunday, March 30.
