Virginia Union University's
Nevaeh Reaves scored 17 points, but Shaw University defeated the Lady Panthers 65-64 in overtime at the CIAA Tournament in Baltimore, Md.
VUU's
Kiara Shepherd scored 13 points and 10 rebounds while teammate
Taniah Johnson added 12 points in the game.
Virginia Union's
Ny Langley rounded out the double-figure scoring with 11 points.
"I would like to thank our student-athletes for all their hard work and dedication this past year," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "I could tell they really wanted this game tonight. This was, as always, a great Shaw team. Coach Curtis has been to the tournament several times and he knows his own formula. They had some good players. We competed with them until the end. I hate that the game didn't go the other way, but I cannot be mad at our effort."
Virginia Union finished the season with a 17-12 overall record.
