Virginia Union University's Rori Cox scored 12 points, but Bowie State University defeated the Lady Panthers 58-54 on Wednesday, February 14, in Bowie, Md.

VUU's Bruni Martinez grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in the game.

"Bowie gave us a very hostile environment, and that will prepare us for the CIAA tournament," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tierra Terry.  "We did not lock in defensively in the second quarter and that deficit killed us in our second half run. We have to fix some things as we close the end of the regular season and then heading into tournament play. We are proud of the players for fighting but we cannot keep going into halftime in a hole."

Virginia Union will now travel to Rock Hill, S.C., to face Clinton College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17.
