Virginia Union University's
Jada Byers rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns as VUU defeated the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania 63-12 on Saturday, October 19, in Lincoln University, Pa.
Byers now has 4,987 career rushing yards, a mere 19 yards from tying the all-time school rushing record of 5,006 yards held by Andre Braxton.Â
Byers also now has 60 career rushing touchdowns, only two away from the school-record of 62 rushing TDs held by Braxton.
VUU's
Mark Wright completed 10 of 15 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns while teammate
Reginald Vick, Jr., caught four passes for three touchdowns.
On the defensive side, Virginia Union's
Jabril Norman had four tackles and a sack in the win.
"We played with lots of energy today," said VUU Head Football Coach Dr.
Alvin Parker. "I was proud of the entire program for today's victory. We can enjoy this for a small period but it's back to work tomorrow."
VUU will now travel to Bowie, Md,, to face the Bulldogs of Bowie State University at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, October 26.
