Virginia Union University has landed eight players on the Pre-Season All-CIAA Football Team, it was revealed at the 2023 CIAA Football Media Day on Thursday, July 20, in Salem, Va.

Jada Byers,
Justin Meade,
Kalen Carver,
Armonii Burden,
Isaac Anderson,
Shamar Graham,
Brady Myers and
Larry Hackey were all named to the 2023 team.
Byers was named to the team as a running back while Meade was named at the offensive line position. Carver made the team as a tight end and Anderson was named at defensive end.
Graham was named All-CIAA as a linebacker while Myers made the team as a kicker and punter. Hackey made the team as a kick returner.
"The accomplishments of our team is based on the individual performances of its members," said VUU Head Football Coach Dr.
Alvin Parker. "To have eight student-athletes be named Pre-Season All CIAA speaks volumes about our program.  Everyone involved in our program is ready for the upcoming season. The pre-season predictions give our team a chance to prove what we are made of. We look forward to carrying the legacy of VUU Football."
VUU was picked to finish third in the CIAA in the 2023 predicted order of finish. Â
The Panthers open the season when they travel to Canton, Oh., to play in the NFL Pro Football Black College Hall of Fame Classic at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3. The game will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
