Virginia Union University's
Ny Langley led the Lady Panthers with 21 points, but Virginia State University defeated VUU 66-59 in the 2022-23 regular-season finale on Saturday, February 18, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Bruni Martinez led the Lady Panthers on the boards with 12 rebounds while
Hailey Blackwell scored 14 points.
Virginia Union's
Chris Alston added 11 points in the game.
"We played with high intensity energy and will power in the first half, but we didn't bring that in the second half," said VUU Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Jessica Freeman. "Unfortunately, we weren't able to get the win against a good VSU team for our seniors, but there's still opportunity. We have to keep moving and get ready for the tournament."
The Lady Panthers will now await to see what seed they will be in the 2023 CIAA Tournament in Baltimore.
