Virginia Union University recorded its first shutout of the season when the Panthers downed Lincoln University of Pennsylvania 57-0 during VUU's Homecoming on Saturday, October 21, in Hovey Stadium in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Jada Byers rushed for four touchdowns caught a pass for another score in the win.
The Panthers held Lincoln to just 86 yards rushing as VUU's
William Davis and
Jabrill Norman had eight tackles apiece.
"I've been happy with the team this entire week," said VUU Head Football Coach Dr.
Alvin Parker. "People talk so much about the preparation and the focus that you have to have during Homecoming Week, and I'm just proud of my team and my coaching staff. They were focused all week, didn't let any outside noise get in and we were prepared for a good Lincoln football team. We went out there and played an excellent game."
Virginia Union now travels to Bluefield, W.V., to face Bluefield State University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28.
