Virginia Union University's
Ny Langley recorded her eighth double-double of the season by scoring a game-high 25 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, but Fayetteville State University defeated the Lady Panthers 68-66 on Saturday, January 7, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Bruni Martinez recorded a double-double of her own by scoring 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in the game.
Virginia Union's
Taniah Johnson also scored 12 points for the Lady Panthers.
"We had a chance to defeat a tough #1 Fayetteville team but just could not maintain the lead," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "We have to figure out what adjustments need to be made going into the second half of our games before we travel to Salem. We must show resiliency and bounce back on Monday."
Virginia Union will travel to Salem, W.V., to face Salem University at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9.
