Virginia Union University's
Taniah Johnson scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Lady Panthers to a 67-57 win over Shaw University at Barco-Stevens Hall on Saturday, January 28, in Richmond, Va.
The game marked the 10th straight win for VUU over Shaw.
Virginia Union's
Ny Langley recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
"Tonight, we showed resiliency and really focused on playing team basketball," said VUU Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. ""We shared the ball with 13 assists and our bench contributed 34 points. We got big stops on the defensive end when we needed them and focused on finishing the game strong.
Ny Langley's 14 rebounds and 6 assists were a huge contribution to this win of course and
Taniah Johnson stepped up big with four three's. We are approaching things one game at a time as we prepare for WAU."
Virginia Union will now face Washington Adventist University at 5:30 p.m. at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va., on Monday, January 30.
