Virginia Union University's
Darryn Zeigler scored a career-high 19 points, but 12th-ranked Catawba College came away with a 67-59 win over the Lady Panthers on Monday, December 13, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Zeigler hit 7 of 9 shots from the field, including going 3-for-3 from beyond the 3-point line.
"We set some offensive and defensive goal for ourselves, and we checked most of them off our list, but we fell a little short giving up eight three pointers," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "We said we wanted 12 turnovers and we got 11. We did reach some benchmarks though. We got more than 12 assists and we passed the ball along very well tonight."
Virginia Union's
Taniah Johnson scored 13 points while teammate
Ny Langley grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Virginia Union will now face Winston-Salem State University at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, at Barco-Stevens Hall.
