Virginia Union University's Stephan Robinson returned a block kick 75 yards for a touchdown while teammate Donte Gross hauled in a 49-yard score, but Charleston defeated VUU 38-21 on a rainy day on Saturday, September 13, in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.

Robinson raced 75 yards after VUU's Jamaal Wright blocked a Golden Eagle field goal attempt. 

Gross' catch came with 9:26 left in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7.

Virginia Union scored another touchdown when Tyrone Brantley rumbled in from seven yards out with 2:57 left in the first half.

VUU's Shawheem Dowdy and Kenneth Graham both passed for over 100 yards, with Dowdy garnering 134 yards while Graham collected 106 yards.

Dowdy and Graham's 100+ yards passing games marked the first time VUU had two quarterbacks pass for more than 100 yards in the same game in over 10 years.

The loss evened VUU's record at 1-1 while Charleston is now 2-0.

Virginia Union travels to Fayetteville State University on Saturday, September 20, to meet the Broncos in a 6:00 p.m. game.
