Box Score In a nationally televised game and a world-wide radio audience, VUU's Dane James passed for 178 yards while Donte Gross ran for a touchdown, but Virginia State University defeated the Panthers 33-12 in a game which decided the champion of the CIAA's Northern Division on Saturday, November 8, in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.

VUU got on the board first when Gross took the ball in from six yards out with 4:02 left in the first quarter.

VSU scored 12 points at the end of the first half to pull ahead.

VUU scored again when Jussie York hauled in a pass from James from 27 yards away with 10:50 left in the game.

The loss gave VUU a final regular-season record of 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the CIAA.  The Panthers finished in second place of the CIAA Northern Division.

VSU is now 8-2 and advances to the Championship Game of the CIAA, to be held in Durham, N.C., on Saturday, November 15.
