Box Score Virginia Union University's Abe Coleman passed for his first collegiate touchdown, but Winston-Salem State University defeated VUU 35-6 on Saturday, September 22, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Coleman, a freshman from Miami Gardens, Fla., came into the game in the third quarter, and nine of 16 passes for 79 yards, including an 18-yard scoring strike to Matias Parker with 3:50 left to play in the game.  Coleman's TD pass capped a 16-play, 76-yard drive.

VUU's Terrence Malone was the top rusher for the Panthers, collecting 47 yards on 11 carries.  

The game was suspended for 30 minutes due to lightning at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem.

The loss evens VUU's record to 2-2 on the season while Winston-Salem State remains unbeated at 4-0.

Virginia Union now returns home to Historic Hovey Field to face Livingstone College in the 2012 Lucille M. Brown Community Youth Bowl on Saturday, September 29, at 1:00 p.m.
