Hickman Passes for 320 Yards in Win Over Bowie State

Box Score Virginia Union University's Cheston Hickman passed for a career-high 320 yards as the Panthers upset undefeated Bowie State University 32-29 on September 24 in Hovey Field.

Hickman connected on 19 of 35 passes and also tossed a touchdown pass.  The 320 passing yards were the most by a VUU quarterback since Lamar Little passed for 455 yards against Tuskegee in 2007.

Virginia Union's Jerell Washington became the first Panther to rush for three touchdowns since Patrick Mills scored three times against Chowan in 2008.  Washington finished the day with 73 yards on 19 carries.

VUU's Raymond Mack caught six passes for 107 yards while Leroy Harmon had a touchdown catch.

Virginia Union's Antonio Harris and Patrick Grant had 12 tackles apiece.

The win raised VUU's record to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in CIAA play.  Bowie State fell to 3-1 and 1-1 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union now faces Chowan University on Saturday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. in Hovey Field.
