Box Score Virginia Union University ran up 479 offensive yards as the Panthers downed Chowan University 43-29 in the 10th Annual Lucille M. Brown Community Youth Bowl on October 1 at Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.

Cheston Hickman connected on 15 of 23 passes for 261 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown pass to
Trevon Winston.
Virginia Union University's Jerell Washington rushed for 151 yards on 42 carries. The 42 rushing attempts tied the VUU school record, originally set by Elihu Smith against Shaw University in 2005.

Matias Parker had 119 receiving yards on seven catches, including a 33-yard touchdown catch.

Antonio Harris came close to tying the school record for interceptions in a single game. Harris picked off three Chowan passes in the game, one short of the record of four set by Tommie Dawson against Fayetteville State University in 1999.
The win raised VUU's record to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play. Chowan fell to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the CIAA.
Virginia Union now faces Elizabeth City State University in the Panthers' 2011 Homecoming Game at 1:00 p.m. in Hovey Field in Richmond, Va., on October 8.
