VUU’s Hemphill Named CIAA Linebacker of the Week

HAMPTON, VA – VUU Linebacker Hurley Hemphill, III (6-2/240/JR/Kannapolis, NC) has been named CIAA Linebacker of the Week for the week ending on September 27th. He had an impressive outing in the Panthers 51-28 victory over Chowan University. Hemphill's performance was highlighted by a 44-yard fumble recovery returned for the first VUU touchdown in the contest.  Hemphill added a team-high 9 tackles, including 2 for a loss of 18 yards, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass break-up and 1 sack for a loss of 5 yards. Hemphill currently leads the Panthers with 33 total tackles and leads a defensive unit that is currently ranked 3rd in the nation (NCAA Division II). 
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 4th, when the host the Tigers of Saint Paul's College in the Seventh Annual Lucille M.
