Virginia Union University's women's 4 x 200 meter relay team set a new school record when they placed third at the Captain's Invitational, held at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va., on January 20 and 21.

The women's 4 x 200 team of G'Ana Robinson, S'Kaylah Woods, Johniqua Porter and Victoria Crump recorded a time of 1:45.29 in the event.

Other VUU standouts included the women's 4,000-meter Distance Medley Relay team of Tamara Gillard, G'Ana Robinson, Brinae Robinson and Savanah Gillard, who completed the event in a time of 13:57.42, good for sixth place.

VUU's Johniqua Porter was sixth in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.04 seconds while G'Ana Robinson placed 11th in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 8.04.

VUU's La'Angenise Kemp was eighth in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.57 meters.
