Virginia Union University's women's bowling team opened the season at the Nags Head Beach Open on November 4-6 in Nags Head, N.C., going 6-9 in competion over the three-day event.
VUU's
Donneka Williamson had the highest total pinnage for the event, totalling 994 pins. Her one-game total of 200 was the highest of any Lady Panther bowler.
Virginia Union's Chantey Mack totalled 929 pins while
Toccarra Brown totalled 853 pins. Senior
Brittany Abraham totalled 852 pins while
Alexandria Burns totalled 525 pins. VUU's Rachel Washington totalled 283 pins in two games.
VUU defeated Virginia State University on the first day of head-to-head meetings, 610-570. Bowie State University, Chowan University, Saint Peter's College, Elizabeth City State University and the University of Alabama-Birmingham took the other head-to-head matches.
On the second day of head-to-head meetings, VUU downed Elizabeth City State University 922-895 while Bowie State University and South Carolina State University won the other head-to-head matches.
Virginia Union now travels to Elizabeth City, N.C., to compete in the ECSU Invitational on November 17-19.
