The most hurting moment he evperienced while serving as "Team Physician" was when a young player named Elias Lynel Stukes, a defensive back, was injured at Hovey Field. The date was October 14, 1971. His last words were, "I MADE A GOOD HIT". Elias three days later.
Remembering unsong heroes who gave of themselves for athletics at Virginia Union University, sacrificing their physical bodies and exhibiting mental toughness, this young man certainly did pay the ultimate price for our Alma Mater.
He is humbled to be placed in the Virginia Union University Athletic Hall of Fame as an honor to those who were injured like Elias Lynel Stukes.
