PHOTO GALLERY | PHOTO GALLERY 2 | PHOTO GALLERY 3 | Virginia Union University's Alexis Johnson and Sterling Hammond were named the VUU Athletic Director Student-Athlete of the Year at the 2018 Athletic Awards Banquet, held on Saturday, April 28, at the Dr. Claude G. Perkins Living & Learning Center in Richmond, Va.

Johnson, a senior on the CIAA Champion Women's Basketball Team, was the MVP of the 2018 CIAA Tournament, the CIAA Player of the Year and the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year.

Hammond, a sophomore on the VUU Football Team, was the Richmond Touchdown Club Defensive Back of the Year and the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year.

All sports at VUU were represented, with five awards being given from each program's head coach.

VUU alumnus and former NFL Player Pete Hunter was the guest speaker for the event.
