The Panthers of Virginia Union and the Eagles of Joseph Langhorne Francis Elementary School meet again.
The relationship between Virginia Union University and J.L. Francis Elementary continues to grow as the Eagles host the Panthers for a third straight year in the spring of 2014.
Representatives from every Virginia Union athletic team were on hand as the Panthers continue to strive in the leadership department both on campus and around the city of Richmond.
After a school year full of homework, papers, and assignments, both groups took the opportunity to take some time out to enjoy the less structured side of learning.
"I feel like they got the opportunity to learn about all the different sports, and the effort it takes to be part of a team" explained by Rah Rah cheerleader
Janessa Hendricks, she continued on saying "all the students were nice and well-mannered, I had a lot of fun, it's been a while since I've gotten to enjoy recess" she laughed.
Although the day was filled with laughter, fun, and games, the Panthers took time out of the schedule to make sure the students of JL Francis understood the importance of school, and making good grades, and how essential it is to stay in school.
The VUU athletes were split into several groups and each group was able to speak to about 9 or 10 classes.
Those talks continued through lunch as the teams got an opportunity to eat with the students.
After lunch the students went to recess and participated in miniature clinics put on by players from the men's and women's basketball, track and field, football, softball, and cheerleading.
Each student had the opportunity to participate in the sport of their choice, with plenty of options to choose from.
For the entire school day, the students of both VUU and JL Francis got to enjoy the presence of one another and take away valuable lessons that will not be easily forgotten.
Both schools are looking forward to reuniting during the 2014-2015 school year.Â
