Virginia Union University's Mason Simpson, a senior from Richmond on the VUU golf team, has been named to the District 2 CoSIDA/Daktronics All-Academic At-Large Team, it was announced on Friday, May 17.

Simpson, with a 3.6 grade point average, was named the 2013 CIAA Player of the Year after winning the individual championship of the CIAA Golf Tournament.

Simpson was also named the VUU Male Student-Athlete of the Year during the annual Student-Athlete Reception on Thursday, May 2.

Simpson was the only CIAA student-athlete to earn All-Academic honors by CoSIDA/Daktronics.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Daktronics split the nation into eight districts.  District 2 consists of Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, the District of Columbia and Virginia.
