Offense Shines at VUU Scrimmage

Virginia Union University's Aris McGlone - English and Cheston Hickman threw a touchdown apiece while freshman Quentis Clark came in and engineered a drive which resulted in a field goal as VUU staged it's final Maroon & Steel Scrimmage in preparation for the season opener on August 28.

Junior wide receiver Joseph Jean-Pierre was on the receiving end of both scoring strikes while junior running back Demetrice Pearson powered the Panther ground game.

"I like the tempo right now," VUU Head Coach Michael Bailey said.  "It seems like everybody's focused and working hard.  Hopefully we'll look like it once we get to Winston-Salem."

The Panthers meet Winston-Salem State University in High Point, N.C., on August 28, but Bailey said no decision had been made yet on who will start at quarterback.

"We've got two guys who have been running neck-and-neck (for the starting position)," Bailey said.  "Today's film means a lot, and they know that."

VUU meets Winston-Salem state at 7:30 p.m.
