Virginia Union University's Tonaye Smith has been named the 2010 CIAA Women's Player of the Year by the CIAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
A senior forward from Detroit, MI, Smith leads the CIAA in scoring with an 18.9 point per game average. She is also averaging 7.2 rebounds per game.
On the year, Smith has tallied 426 points, 163 rebounds, 25 steals and 13 assists. She scored 834 points, pulled down 387 rebounds, 55 steals, and 29 assists in her career at Virginia Union.
The All-CIAA Teams and Players of the Year will be honored at the 2010 CIAA Basketball Tournament Tip-Off Luncheon on Tuesday, February 23rd.
